I choose the Web 2.0 tool because of easy application I can incorporate it into my reading anthology as well as social studies. One story, we read as a grade level in the anthology, is about a little girl’s trip to her grandmother’s house. The main character, Kristine, is entertained with her grandmother’s stories of the African talking cloth. Kristine is fascinated by grandmother’s “collection of life.” The grandmother tells in detail of her trip to Ghana and the people she encountered as well as sights.
For an assignment, using the Internet and other resources, the students would need to create an album of their trip to Ghana with photos and journal entries.
Title: My Trip to Ghana, Africa with Africa
Obj: TLW manipulate the site, http://www.ontheroad.to/, to create a travel album on their trip to Africa. TLW recall facts and details from the text to create a fictional album with journal entries.
Assessment: The final travel album will be graded using a rubric.
EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS- I really enjoyed the album creation tool and found it user friendly. I feel the more you use it the more at ease you will be with it. It becomes user friendly and easier to facilitate the tools. The Web 2.0 tool has so many educational benefits. My first tool to recommend would be the mapping of your trip. You receive latitude and longitude on the maps when you search for locations that can relate to a geography and math lesson. Questions for a learner creating a trip album to answer might be: How many days would it take you to reach your first destination? Does your plane need to stop in certain cities or can you take direct flights?
Another educational use would incorporate writing-journal entries, and sequencing. The students can create writing entries that can be graded and also practice skills for sequencing.
Beautiful. You could find other tools to use in conjunction with this for different stages of the trip. Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to use it!
